Silent swallowing via default branches. A switch statement in resolveSpellEntry had a default branch that silently ate PCECounterspell entries in deep Counterspell chains. The spell vanished. No error, no crash, just wrong behavior. Moving to effect/Match with Match.exhaustive (which forbids default branches) killed this entire bug class at compile time3.
